Dilip is a self taught artist from the Warkhanda village and has been practicing the Warli art for over 17 years. In his early days as an emerging artist, he was selected for an art residency in Germany in 1996 where he spent four months painting and exhibiting all over. He has been participating in workshops organized by Lalit Kala Akademi, Goa in 2012 and in an artist residency organized by IFA, Bangalore. He has exhibited in various exhibitions organized by Craft Council in Chennai & Hyderabad and was a part of the exhibition titled ‘New Developments in Warli Art’ (2015) curated by Jothi Xavier in Baroda. He is now a full time artist and travels all over India to participate in art exhibitions, having exhibited at Lalit Kala Akademi, Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, and many others around India. Dilip has a special talent for innovative compositions not seen usually in the Warli art tradition. His compositions are well thought out and emerge from the choice of his subject matter, depicting the ecological connection between trees and water.
