About the Artist
Self-taught artist, Kalam has reinvigorated and reinvented Kalighat paintings in India. His work can be deceptive, seemingly playful and charming. He has taken the conceptual aspects of Kalighat art and reinterpreted them, making Kalighat vital and relevant, depicting life and philosophy of the present times. Patua’s works have been exhibited in India with Gallery Espace, Delhi, the Victoria and Albert Museum, London and is in several collections in India and abroad.
