The Painting ‘Claws Out’ is mixed media on paper. Paper has a special appeal to me because the surface is particularly malleable and the marks and traces drawn on it have an intimacy that is hard to achieve on canvass. As an art piece ‘Claws Out’ occupies a space between drawing and a painting. It plays with the themes of hidden pain, growth, vulnerability, violence, and beauty.
