Artwork Description

Shreyas Karle uses collage, video, sculpture, drawing, and community-based, collaborative projects to “visually harness absurdity and social puns that shine light upon more serious psychological issues and situations.” He has regularly challenged the model of artists-in-residence and art school, seeking inspiration from his nomadic formal tendencies that work against linear intentionality. Flow charts, models, and systems often infiltrate his work, animating and documenting a process that embraces flux and accidents. The artist uses his visual language to present research and the “grammar of art,” keenly observing the ways in which he can make methodology in art practice more provocative.
