Bindi is a painting done by watercolour and highlighted by charcoal. Inspired by wood cuts and carvings, the artist has painted a portrait of her mother from memory, remembering her red bindi.
Born in 1994, artist Taijasi attained her Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from Goldsmiths College, University of London (2016). She held a solo exhibition of 53 of her works at the Lalit Kala Academy (Lucknow). She has also participated in Group Shows at Goldsmiths (University of London), Cass Art (Shoreditch, London), HLS Gallery (Stroke Newington, London), Brick Lane Gallery (Shoreditch, London) and at Wembley (London). She passionately pursues voluntary teaching projects which include teaching art to students with learning disabilities at Four Steps NGO (New Delhi) and at Very Specials Arts Asia (New Delhi). She staged a live art performance at AIIMS, for India’s first mental health festival (New Delhi). Along with executing multiple voluntary initiatives with KHOJ (New Delhi) – her works were recently exhibited at The Irregulars Art Fair (Studio Khirki, New Delhi). The artist presently lives and works in Delhi.
