Harshida’s artworks beautifully portray a breakdown of communication: the unexpressed, surpressed frustration and anger that is felt deeply within – in a biological sense. Yet her works have an undercurrent of calmness and serenity, which generate a surreal impression in many of her paintings. In ‘Fragrance’, she uses the inspiration of the plumeria (champa) flowers which grow near her house. She focuses on the beauty of this external element – and the potential of its delicate and subtle sense of smell to create an aura of calmness.
Harshida attained her Masters of Visual Arts from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujarat (2014) and her B.F.A in Painting from Ipcowala Santram College of Fine Arts, Gujarat (2012). She has participated in various group exhibitions at the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S.University, Baroda (2016), West Hartford, CT, USA (2015), Shristi Art Gallery, Hyderabad (2014), Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai (2012). Lalit Kala Academy, Ahmedabad (2009) amongst others. She received the Best Painting Award at Ipcowala Santram College of Fine Arts (2008) and a Gold Medal at Kalavart National Art, Ujjain (2008).
