Rashmi works with paint and photo media and her work is best seen in the context of her experience of socio-cultural ritualistic belief systems in rural India. She uses her work to respond to personal socio-political concerns, whether constrained by the mores of culture, ideology of governments and religion, perceptions of race and gender, or the limitations and fears within our own psyches.
Rashmi received a B.F.A. and an M.F.A from M. S. University in Vadodara, during which she also received the Nasreen Mohamedi Outstanding Student award. She has held a solo show at the Patnaik Art Gallery in Visakhapatnam (2010). Her work has been displayed in group shows at Gallery of Modern Art in Mumbai, Red Earth Gallery in Vadodara (2009). the Faculty of Fine Arts in Vadodara (2008), and at the Lalit Kala Academy in New Delhi (2007).
