“Moharram” depicts Syed women from the Prophet’s family sitting atop the 2nd floor of the shrine of Utman Marwandi at Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, of Sehwan Shareef in Pakistan.
Madiha holds a Bachelors in Design from Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture (IVS), Karachi and an M.F.A. in Photography from Parsons, New York. She has participated in several group shows including India International Center, New Delhi (2015), VM Gallery, Karachi (2013), Urban Flux Film Festival, Johannesburg (2012), World Conservation Forum, South Korea (2012), Amin Gulgee Gallery, Karachi (2010), Gallery Saddequain, Karachi (2004) and Alhamra Art Gallery, Lahore (2002). She also received the Fullbright Scholarship in 2007. Madiha was selected for the Sandarbh International Artist Residency in Partapur, Rajasthan (2015) and was the recipient of the Commonwealth Short Story prize for Radio (2011). Currently, Madiha works as a Senior Lecturer of Photography at IVS University in Karachi. Her works capture spectacles and rituals from her native country, Pakistan.
