Rumi believes culture, language, text are natural formations, just like organic entities. They grow, merge, detoriate and regrow. This slice of time, in the form of ‘Sediment’ is most significant element for her practice. She has been working on the visual theme of Soilscapes and Sediment series and has developed a visual vocabulary which oscillates between complex ink drawings, paintings, sculptures and installations. This particular work titled “Soilscape – 1”, explains the colliding formations which sometimes resemble soil, sediments infused with elements of roots, seeds, twigs and bio cellular forms. Her work displays, oscillation between the origin and the new hybrid identity.
