Surbhi Bahl’s works engages with forms, perspectives surrounding an urban landscape and the many stories that are a part of it. More akin to drawing, there is a constant interrogation of the cityscape that she inhabits.
The works ‘Stories’ and ‘Busy Streets’ are influenced by the architectural lines from the urban city, and the construction lines comes as though witnessing the aesthetics of the city.
Surbhi attained her BA (Hons) in Sociology from the Jesus & Mary College, Delhi University (2000). She graduated with an MA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art and Design, University of the Arts London (2010). She worked as a Curatorial Assistant with Dr. Alka Pande at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi (2007-09). She has also worked as a Gallery Representative at Saatchi Gallery, London (2011) & as a Graphic Designer and Art Journal Coordinator for the Visual Arts Gallery, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi (2013-16). She has been a part of various group shows at India Art Fair (2018), United Art Fair (2013 & 2014), Queens Gallery, British Council, New Delhi (2012), Bankside Gallery, London (2012), Bespoke Space, East Dulwich (2011), Kensington Palace, London (2010) and at World Art College Vision Exchange (WAVE) in Wimbledon College of Art, London (2010). Her commissioned works are a part of various collections including the India Habitat Centre (2015 & 2016). The artist lives and works in Delhi.
