Artwork Description

Isha’s recent series of works titled “the other side of a city” which is a fictional narrative of her experiences in Mumbai and have tried to archive them. She has taken elements of the city like ‘Tetrapods’ which by its form fascinated her to build a picture that might say more than its physicality. Her practice being surrounded by the subject of a Body, Gender and Violence, she has related these forms as phallic shapes that talks about the history of queer identities and communities of Bombay. Images of crabs and a young girl to show how we as human connect to our surroundings and vice versa. It talks about impermanence, mortality and the transient nature of life.

About Artist

Isha completed her Bachelors from Maharaja Sayajirao University Faculty of Fine Arts Major in Painting with a minor in Graphics (2013-2017) and her post graduation from Maharaja Sayajirao University Faculty of Fine Arts with a major in Painting (2017-2019). She had a preview show at Faculty of Fine Arts. She was awarded a Nasreen Mohammadi Scolarship display at Faculty of Fine Arts (2016).
