Daisy’s this particular ‘Untitled’ work is based on the feminization of migration and the politics of subaltern migration and specifically of the women. After considerable research conducted in Dharavi, Mumbai, Daisy made a performative piece which is then presented as a video installation that tries to viscerally denote suffocation, and anxieties of a dislocated life and its intricacies. Displacement is often seen as an act of choice, but among the subaltern it is never a choice but a compulsion that is driven by the most basic need of life- food. A life of struggle, always led in silence and undocumented becomes a consistent struggle.
Daisy is currently pursuing her PG Diploma Course in Modern and Contemporary Indian Art and Curatorial Studies from Bhau Daji Lad Museum, Mumbai, Maharashtra (2017). She attained her BFA in Painting from Chitrakala Parishat College of Fine Arts, Bangalore, Karnataka.
