Shikha often employs the female figure in her works, as she continues her engagement along the traversing borders of the personal and the political. In this work, ‘Untitled I’, we see her create the protagonist with soft feminine pastels, contrasted with a piercing stare – almost subverting the gaze of the viewer.
Shikha recently completed a Post Graduate Diploma Course in Modern and Contemporary Indian Art and Curatorial Studies from the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Mumbai City Museum. She attained her BFA in Painting from Rachna Sansad College of Applied Arts and Craft, Mumbai (2016) after completing her diploma in Graphic Designing from MAAC, Mumbai along with a Foundation course in Commercial Arts from Sophia Polytechnic. She lives and works in Mumbai.
