Artwork Description

Sonal and Nikhil’s installation piece “Wish Tree” is made out of junk cycle parts, objects which had once completely lost its momentum but is now back in motion in a new form. The piece aims to capture the continuous motion in which our lives are changing and gaining new momentum with every passing minute.

About Artist

Sonal studied B.M.M. from National College Bandra, Mumbai. Before turning to art, she worked as a copywriter with The Flagship Advertising, Strawberryfrog, India and Origin Beanstalk. She collaborates with artist Nikhil Borhade, and their work has been displayed at the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival (2013) and at Dumas Art Festival, Gujarat, organized by Gallery Art and Soul. Her works include dominant use of different textures and junk materials like wires, threads and junk wheels.

Nikhil studied Applied Art from Raheja College of Arts and is currently a freelance photographer in Mumbai. His clients include Hindustan Unilever, Pantene, New Women Magazine, and Lee Cooper. Primarily a digital artist, Nikhil has started experimenting with metal for large scale installations. Fresh colours and abstract forms are visible throughout his work. He takes his inspiration from this city of dreams – Mumbai. He loves to capture people from all walks of life, for which he sometimes travels miles in search of his perfect picture.
