Pinaki works with mixed media and experiments with materials to create a juxtaposition of prints and drawings. He believes that his work is not only about the relationship of the elements he uses, rather a social responsibility towards the people, birds and animals which inhabit his native place Chilika, a lake in Odisha, known for its brackish water.
Pinaki holds a BFA in Sculpture from B.K. College of Art and Crafts, Bhubaneswar and an MFA in Ceramics & Design from Kala Bhavan, Santiniketan. His group shows include the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi (2013), M.F. Hussain Art Gallery in Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi (2010) and All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society, New Delhi (2009). He has participated in the Lalit Kala Exhibition, Odisha (2012) and has been awarded the Research scholarship at Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi (2013), Arnya National Award, Kolkata (2013) and the State Youth Award, Odisha (2010).
