Ayesha Singh

Ayesha Singh (b. 1990, New Delhi, India), completed her MFA in Sculpture at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, 2018, and BFA from the Slade School of Fine Art, London, UK, 2013.

Ayesha has exhibited solo and group shows at the Sculpture Park Jaipur, Nahargarh Fort, Rajasthan, India; Museum of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, Chongqing, China; Yorkshire Sculpture Park, UK; ACRE Projects, Chicago; Cambridge University, UK; and other space in Ahmedabad, Chennai, Calcutta, Jaipur, Mumbai, and New Delhi
(India); Chicago and Miami (USA); London, Reading and Cambridge(UK); and Curitiba (Brazil). Singh has been recently awarded the Emerging Artist of the Year Award from India Today in 2020 and was named under the Forbes India 30 under 30, Special Mentions list under the “Arts” category in 2019. She has won the Ellies Creator Award from Oolite Arts (former Art Centre/South Florida), USA; the Civil Society Institute Fellowship at Vermont Studio Centre, USA; and the Science & Culture Initiative Grant from the University of Chicago and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2018. Her work has been published in Art Review, Hyperallergic, Architectural Digest, Art India Magazine, Burnaway, Public Parking, Domus, Stir, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Elle Décor and Femina magazine, to name a few. Her work is a part of public collections including the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, UK.

Through an interdisciplinary practice that lays emphasis on movement and displacement; Ayesha questions social hierarchies, political agendas and subconscious value systems placed on ornamentation, design, and material in architectural pastiches that construct our cities and homes.
