He returned to his alma mater to teach and has been taking courses on Indian calligraphy (especially Devanagari), typography and visual communication design for the past twenty years. Amongst his most noted work are his typefaces in Gujrati and Oriya for Microsoft Windows XP; these were the first of their kind to be designed in the OTF format. He has spoken about Indian calligraphy in renowned institutions and conferences in Germany, Belgium, England and Japan, as well as conducted hundreds of workshops and has many publications to his name. His work has been exhibited in Australia and USA, and in Japan with Prof. Mori Kooun. Santosh Kshirsagar is currently pursuing his Ph. D. at the Industrial Design Center, Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai.

WHAT WILL BE TAUGHT:
The workshop aims to introduce you to the art and craft of calligraphy. Like all art forms, calligraphy or typography is a form of self expression. Here, artists use words and fonts to create aesthetic and literary pieces. And just like all art forms it may take a while for you to become an expert, but this workshop may well sow the seeds for the exploration.

Creativity lies all around us, and all it needs is a keen eye to seek it out. This is going to be the essence of the calligraphy workshop where the team will train you to look for alphabets and expressions in everyday things around you. The workshop will mainly deal with the Roman script and all attendees will be allowed to choose their own scripts for the workshop. This class is divided into four progressive units: Understanding the Tools, Learning Letter Structure, Learning the Alphabet, and Developing a Style. You’ll create a one-of-a-kind alphabet in a modern calligraphy style and develop a set of skills for bringing a persuasive, personal script to any personal project, wedding or otherwise!
