WHAT WILL BE TAUGHT: In this workshop, participants will be given an introduction to Charcoal Drawing as an art medium. The class will begin with learning how to do contour drawings in 5-6 different ways, using different parts of the palm to understand about the quality and character of the lines. Participants will then make gesture drawings, which will explore tones and masses created by charcoal with subtle change in pressure. This is followed by drawing basic shapes turning them into shaded realistic 3D forms which will teach light and shading. Finally, an exploration in abstraction by leaning to see, experience and express will end with participants creating their own charcoal drawings on half Imperial paper.
