WHAT WILL BE TAUGHT

In the first half of the workshop the participants will be taught to create a diorama scene / miniature world / small topography that describe fantastical scenarios, using plaster, found objects and paint.
The class will begin by the Instructor showing her works and also the work of other miniature masters in the field.

The workshop will then continue a demonstration on how to mix the right consistency of plaster. The Instructor will then construct the form of Styrofoam and newspaper which will involve an architectural feature. After which she will demonstrate her skill of draping cloth plaster.

In the second half, the participants will begin their construction of form, mixing plaster, and then start draping plaster cloth. The plaster sets very quickly, during which time the participants will be mixing colours with water for the landscape. They will spray paint the models with watered down acrylic/watercolour.

Once dried, they will start with details – glue grass, trees, people, found objects etc creating their own personal Plaster Diorama Forms.
