Kundan Mondal (b. 1980, Burdwan, West Bengal, India) completed his MVA from Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University, Vadodara, 2009 and later pursued MFA in Painting from the Wimbledon college of Arts, University of the Arts, London, with a Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarship, 2018.
He has been awarded the Rajya Charukala Parishad Award, 2006, Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, 2012-13, the Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarship, 2017-18, and The Wytham Hall Painting Prize, 2018.
Kundan Mondal’s work creates a multi-layered language to articulate and construct a genre of contemporary history paintings and anti-history paintings that refer to current political and historical events.
Kundan lives and works in Vadodara, Gujarat, India.
