Arpan’s work is a reflection of his childhood. He is influenced by different kinds of expression as well as visuals from his surroundings and he has tried to retain those impressions.
He says that we live in an era, where we are nothing but consumers. Each and every emotion of ours is dependent on a transactional relationship. In Arpan’s work, colours of love are covered with neon lights of advertisement. In a developing country like ours, the spirit of modernism lingers as a ghost often falling back to its colonial orthodoxy. He suspects, that a fictional ‘fear of the society’ is forcibly keeping our heads bowed down. In his works the angst from forceful adherence manifests into forms of suffering figures, hybrid creatures, expressing torpid solitude. His works portray fear and chaos that lie in the deepest chasms of his heart.
