Nayanjyoti Barman completed his Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from Kala Bhavana, Santiniketan and is currently pursuing his Masters degree from MS University, Baroda. He was recently honored with the “In Transit Emerging Artist Award” and exhibited his works at the Kochi Muziris Student’s Biennale Forum. Presently, he is a resident at Space Studio, Baroda.
Nayan lives and works in Vadodara, Gujarat.
Nayanjyoti Barman was born and brought up in a small village in Assam call Laltari. His father was an electrician who passed away in 2011. Nayan’s inspiration comes from his father’s workshop- a thermal power station in Bongaigaon, Assam.
Nayan’s days begin with several thoughts, many ideas, new possibilities, which he incorporates in his works. The opportunity to explore and experiment with techniques and materials across mediums is fundamental to his art practice as a multidisciplinary artist. He is associated with a wide range of art practices in traditional, digital media and fragile materials including drawing, painting, sculpting, animation, cinematography and kinetic sculpture, enjoying the exploration of each media.
