Every living form comes with a limited life span. The series of stages in form, passes between successive recurrences of a specified primary stage. Eventually, the form grows and after a certain stage the sensation comes and again the cycle is regenerated like a seed, which is the rule of nature. Similar is the span of an idea too, it is an endless process. Sunil’s art practice is inspired by forms from our surroundings.
Growth is an important element which is never stable. It is a continuous process which slowly and gradually develops from a lower or simpler to higher or complex form; like the plant who finds its own way even when it has on obstacle in the way of germination. On the other hand, even stone is an inspirational element from nature- The way it sustains itself even in the harsh atmosphere. Hence, “STONE GIVES BIRTH TO A STONE”. Therefore, everything associated with an individual dissolves at times and at the same time the form is regenerated and the cycle goes on and on.
This concern Sunil has explored in his set of works in a more idealized manner by the use of the material itself. The role of material dealing with its concept is said to be the prime and most dominant part when executing a work of art. He uses stone as direct material to elaborate the movement and germination but also life itself.
