Ravi’s work delves into histories, drama, theatre, political and personal issues. His traditional forms and surreal elements are a reflection of his curiosity, encountered after transiting from village life into city life and concerns born thereof. The transition from the pristine rural life to the hustle and bustle of the city life is the undercurrent at play in much of his art-scape. In minuscule yet carefully designed spectacles, he articulates issues of concern to humanity ranging from desire to violence. The meticulously assembled fragments add up to build a narrative that digs into history, politics, memory and experiences. Reflective of the man-animal-nature interface and society, the gouache on paper works speak for his contemplative aesthetics underlined with satire. Minimal renderings in varying sizes and inexplicable juxtapositions are a hallmark of his engaging compositions. The portrayal of the urbanized world’s meaningless power struggle comes alive in his current suite of intriguing paintings.

Ravi lives and works in Hyderabad, Telangana, India.
