Space 118 is pleased to launch On Making, 2020 with an artist talk presented by one of India’s most prolific and innovative sculptors – LN Tallur.

Tallur’s practice explores the ironic ways in which people navigate a world rife with competing anxieties, desires, and fears. By mixing artifacts, bronze, coins, concrete, kitsch, machines, oil, silver, stone, and wood, Tallur layers and builds monumental pieces that use artifice and obstruction to critique the power structures and strategies of institutional display. In doing so, his work reminds us to look critically at the forces of history, globalization, and capitalism that condition both our values and collective memories.

In his talk, Tallur will take us through his most recent survey exhibition ‘Interference Fringe’ held earlier this year at Grounds For Sculpture, Hamilton, NJ, USA. He is joined in conversation by Phalguni Guliani, Space 118’s Art-writer in residence, and Saloni Doshi as moderators.
